Where could be better for an outdoor writer to live than in Devon? With two National Parks, the South West Coastal Path, and amazing adventure opportunities on my doorstep, it’s no surprise I spend so much of my time outside.
As a result of my splendid location, I enjoy wild camping, outdoor swimming, paddling, walking and any other outdoor activity as long as it doesn’t involve heights or running.
Because it makes me feel so good, I love being outside and have spent the last couple of decades encouraging other people to love the outdoor lifestyle too.
I teach navigation and expedition skills and love weaving stories of adventure, creating walking routes, writing gear reviews and supporting would-be adventurers with outdoor advice. You could perhaps describe me as an outdoor geek.
Over the last few years I’ve been finding ways to live more sustainably. Because of this, I’ve made some key changes to the ways I enjoy my outdoor activities. I check brand eco-credentials before I buy outdoor gear and I’ve been experimenting with car-free outdoor experiences. As a result, train adventures have become my norm, which probably explains why you’ll see the word ‘train’ so often in my outdoor blogs.
